"So is she hot?" Bob asked, as they headed in a rental car to go pick Jordan up from the airport. Gerard and Ray had tagged along. The girlfriends were all out shopping together. Frank hoped that the girls would take to Jordan. She would like having some girls to hang out with during her time with them on the road. She'd never had very many close girlfriends, and he knew that the boys' girlfriends were all good girls.
"Uhm, I dunno, I've never really looked at her that way," Frank answered.
"FUGLY!" Bob proclaimed, and snickered.
"She is not fugly!" Frank said, getting defensive. "She has a very pretty face."
"So she's a BIG GIRL?!" he asked, and giggled. "Ray, you've seen her - what's she look like?"
"She has a very pretty face..." Ray offered.
Frank rolled his eyes.
"Guys, stop being so shallow," Gee said. "She's Frank's friend for fuck's sake. I think she's cute."
"Yeah we all know you have strange taste," Bob said to Gerard. "Two words: Eliza Cuts."
"I'm not going to discuss this with you again -" Gee started.
"I'm just sayin!" Bob said, holding his hands up. "The girl's a funny looker. I'm just sayin."
Frank and Ray nodded in agreement and Gee just huffed.
"Well no one can deny that Shannon is very pretty," he said, referring to his current girlfriend.
"That's true," Ray said.
"She IS hot," Bob said.
Gee smiled smugly.

Frank called Jordan on her cell when they'd parked outside the airport. She said she was at Baggage Claim and she sounded really excited. So the guys all got out and went to Baggage Claim to look for her. They were all in hats and shades and no one really recognized them. They sat down at the baggage terminal that corresponded to her flight number and looked for her but they didn't see her anywhere.

A petite girl walked up to them in shades and a floppy hat and they all thought they were about to get the "Oh MAh GAwD - YOU Iz TEH MY CHEMNICAL ROWMANCE!" reaction. But instead she put one hand on her hip and pouted.

"Frankie! Boy you'd better give me a hug!"
"Oh my God - Jordan?" he asked, getting up. He'd only recognized her by her voice. She was skinny now. And very well-shaped. She was wearing a little jean jacket over a flirty floral blouse, some shorts and some calf-high boots. Her once dark and slightly unruly hair was now a light brown streaked with honey blonde and had been straightened. And she was wearing makeup.
"Yes! Duh!" she said, throwing her arms out.
He went to her and hugged her tight, turning back to look at Gee and Bob with an 'Oh my God!' face. They both looked shocked. Bob just looked her up and down and looked like he might start drooling any minute.
Frank let go of her and took her shades off, looking her over. She had that same pretty face only now she had more defined cheekbones. Her eyeliner was perfectly lined around her warm brown eyes and her eyelashes were thick and gorgeous. She just looked different.
She looked....good.
But so thin.
He was starting to see what his mother had meant by saying she was worried. Jordan had never been thin, no matter how many diets she'd tried. So how had this happened? And why? He felt kind of disappointed that she didn't look like herself anymore. Well, not like the girl he'd grown up with.
"Oh my God, do I look that bad?" she asked, starting to fret over her hair.
"No! No, you look great -" he began, mentally kicking himself for making whatever face he'd made. She was apparently still really sensitive.
"I shouldn't have worn this, it must look totally stupid -"
"Hey," he said, shaking her a little. "You look absolutely gorgeous. Seriously."
"Really?" she asked, hopefully.
"Really. I am so glad you're here," he said, and hugged her again.
"Me too!"

He didnt get to talk to her much on the way to the hotel because the boys completely monopolized her. Asking questions and telling her jokes. Frank knew they wanted her attention because she was all skinny and hot now. But he wasn't going to blame them. Really all he wanted to do was pull her aside and talk to her about her new appearance. He wanted to know what she'd done to get so skinny.

When they got back, everyone wanted to go do something. So they'd decided to go to the movies and out to eat. They went to see Saw 4 and then to an Italian restaurant. Frank was not only glad that Jordan was there because now he had someone to talk to while the boys were being mushy with their girlfriends, but also because people assumed that Jordan was his girlfriend so he didnt have to look like the lonely loser that he felt like.

While they stood around the concessions area waiting for the other boys, he saw something he'd never seen before in all the time he'd known Jordan.

Guys checking her out.

Hardcore.

Lots of them.

She seemed oblivious to all of them.

She was in the middle of telling him a story about school, meanwhile five preppy guys who looked like total dicks were standing to their right talking about her in hushed tones and ogling her in a way that made him feel somewhat offended. So he slipped his arm around her waist. Not thinking anything of it, she put her arm around him and continued talking. The guys didnt look too pleased.

"What's all this love for?" she asked.
"Just missed you," he said, and smiled.
She put her hand to his right cheek and kissed his left. He grinned from ear to ear.
"What was that for?"
"Just missed you," she said, and smiled.

He noticed that the guys who'd been watching her had moved on.

When the rest of the boys and their dates had their snacks they headed into the theater. Gerard raised an eyebrow at Frank for having his arm around Jordan. Frank just shrugged it off. It would mean nothing to her. She was a very affectionate girl. He kept offering her popcorn and candy but she didn't have any. She spent half the movie hiding her face in his shirt, but she had a good time nonetheless.

Afterwards they found a nice restaurant for dinner. Everyone ordered pasta, but Jordan ordered a salad with dressing on the side. Which was strange because he knew her favorite food to be lasagna and he had seen her put away many 7-layer lasagnas in his time. But she ordered nothing but the salad, then she proceeded to pick at that. Nobody seemed to notice because they were too busy laughing at her jokes. It appeared she had come out of her shell, after all, because she was being really gregarious and had everyone laughing so hard they were turning red and complaining that their faces and stomachs hurt. He'd always known she was really funny, but that was a side of her that usually only he got to see. He didn't enjoy seeing her put on a show for everyone else. It just made him feel so much less special. When they left the restaurant 2/3 of her food was still on her plate. She had developed some good distraction techniques. He had to hand it to her. But she wasn't fooling him. He knew now.

She was anorexic.
Frank knows Jordan's little secret...
